MAURICE HOOKS

My name is Maurice Hooks and I'm a film maker and photograher currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. My interest in film started many years ago when I was a sophomore attending Hemet High School. I had enrolled in a Ceramics class, which turned out to be a mistake because the teacher wasn't a nice person at all. At the halfway mark of the year, I had the option to finish out Ceramics or try a different elective. I choose a multimedia elective because I figured it couldn't be any harder then trying to shape clay into a pot. In this class, I learned basic filming and editing, and also created the first company (Pink Panther Productionz) with some others in my class. I also learned how to shoot different kinds of videos from short films to music videos and a lot more. After taking this class, I knew that film making is what I wanted to do.

 

After this year, I transferred to a different high school where I learned more about the history of film making as well as different aspects of it such as the acting, the musical score, the cinematography, and locations. In one of my classes, I reviewed films based on these categories, and in my senior year, I became part of my school's morning announcement team.

 

In 2007, I graduated from highschool and my I founded my first and current solo company (Silhouette Productions). I wanted something that sounded a little more mature because I had also began attending college. This is when I was trying to do a lot of my own projects which didn't really get a lot of exposure. My interest in photography started once I got my DSLR camera and is something I tried and loved doing. I like to do all types of different photoshoots but model photography is probably my favorite.
